Software for Apple Computers

Unlike it's chief rival, Microsoft, Apple adopted a full-solution approach that included the computer, the operating system (OS) for the computer, and most of its software made or approved by Apple. The macOS system is for use on desktop and laptop computers and iOS is for iPads, iPhones, and iPods. Click here to see a version history of macOS. For versions between 1984 and 2001, see Classic Mac OS. The early versions were partially based on the Lisa OS. Apple has strict guidlines for App Store reviews and no unapproved app will be allowed to run under a Mac operating system. It's possible to run Windows apps on a Mac using Parallels Desktop. And you can run Mac OS X under Windows using Virtual Box.

Every summer, Apple hosts a World-Wide Development Conference (WWDC) to brief developers on the latest improvements in Apple's hardware & software and asks them to "help us change the world". The results of those meetings are listed below.
