TicoByte for September, 2013

Howdy, PC Club members!

You're officially invited to the PC Club meeting this month on Saturday, September 21st, at the beautiful Pan American School in Belen at 9 AM.  Wise ones will come early, at 8:30, to chat, have some coffee, and a snack.  Bring computer-related stuff that you would like to share or get help with.

  1. Nominations will be opened this month for President, Treasurer, and Ombudsman; with elections held in October. Don't be shy: if you have an interest in serving in one of these positions, please speak up. Check out the club bylaws if you're curious about duties of officers.

  2. Lenny and Joan have graciously offered to host the club Christmas Party this year. It will be held on Pearl Harbor Day, December 7th.

  3. I'll be asking a couple of website-related questions at the meeting.
    • Would you like to see a Public Section and a Members-Only section? This would require a login to get to the latter, but it would offer the possibility of posting things (e.g., member names, party addresses) that we would not want to share with the world at large.

    • Is anyone interested in a website forum? This would provide a place for discussions, especially ones about topics that might not be suitable for the listserver (e.g., non-computer-related items). This would also require a login to access.

  4. Tio will talk about how to do a Google Docs powerpoint presentation.

  5. Ken will explain the difference between "backup" and "archive".

  6. Mac will talk about Feedly, which is a good replacement for the Google Reader that we used to use to get timely updates from our favorite websites via the Rich Site Summary (RSS) feed.

  7. Here are some items in the Web News recently:

'See you at the meeting,

Dick Sandlin
